    by Nancy Sewell

    eudcedit Private Character Editor

Have you ever wanted to have your own font character that you can paste into any document? It's easy to design such a character using Microsoft Windows little known Private Character Editor system utility.

    Things You'll Need:

    • Computer with Microsoft windows

    1.
In the Start menu, select run and type in eudcedit This will bring up the Private Character Editor system utility. If you are using Microsoft Vista, you will need to click continue when the User Account Control (UAC) window appears.

    2.
You have a choice to link your font character to a particular font or to all of them, If you link it to a particular font, it will only be available when you use that font. If you link to all fonts, it will be available in all programs including notepad or notebook. It will not erase the font characters linked to the keyboard. It uses extra space in Unicode.

    3.
After you save your font character(s), close the Private Character Editor. To use the font character, open the character map ( run / start and type in: charmap) Select All Fonts (Private Characters) in the drop down font list. Select the font character you want to copy then press the copy button.
